ABOUT KENYA LAW CAREER FAIR- 2025

The first ever Kenya Law Career Fair is happening on 30th and 31st August 2024, at the Kenya School of Law brought to you by The Lawdown Africa. This is a one-of-a-kind career advancement opportunity made for the upcoming and in-coming lawyer.
Our enduring theme is “#BecomingWakili”, recognizing that every legal mind, whether in its formative years, or seasoned and shaped by the sanding of time, is still “becoming” the very best version of itself. This inaugural event is themed, “Unveiling Legal Horizons: Your Pathway to a Dynamic Legal Career,” which underscores our mission to demystify the various pathways into the legal profession. We aim to provide invaluable resources, inspiration and networking opportunities for incoming and upcoming lawyers who are eager for a meaningful legal career, offering you guidance and insight into the educational and professional journey ahead.
If you are looking to pursue a career in law, or already pursuing a career in law and want to see what career options exist, this Fair was designed just for you! The Fair features a mix of panels and masterclasses curated to either get you started on your legal journey or to give you the edge you need to thrive. Come and interact with some of the lawyers and law firms, in-house departments and government legal departments that you’ve been eyeing, as they share the ABCs on work opportunities, internships, pupillage and out-of-the-box specialized areas of practice.

The goal is to:

  • Introduce pre-university students to careers in law, showcasing the path to take, undergraduate school options and career opportunities post-study.
  • Connect young and upcoming lawyers with work and other career progression information and opportunities.
Unbox the various facets of law practice, whether traditional or new age.
  • Connect lawyers in various practice areas and equip them with the ABCs of entry into that area of law as well as highlighting the latest trends.
  • Foster career development by facilitating networking and mentorship for young lawyers.

TESTIMONIALS

“I’m calling upon The LawDown Africa as the official organizers of this inaugural career fair event to make the Kenya Law Career Fair an annual calendar event, bring in more corporates to participate, and create an avenue whereby professionals can mentor young lawyers.”

This law career fair is very empowering and defining for both the older and the younger because even we as mentors learn while participating through mentoring. We are also learning through the new career opportunities and practice areas that are coming up.

I attended the Kenya Law Career Fair by The LawDown Africa. It was quite informative, and allowed me to have a feel of the different kinds of career paths a law student can take. So, I was able to see how I can merge my prior experience in auditing, finance, and the development world with my legal career now.

I Attended the Kenya Law Career Fair because I wanted to meet professionals, exchange ideas, and feed my mind.
Sylvia Njoki Ireri
Law Student, Kabarak University Law School
I am very proud of the LawDown team because this career fair, being the first of its kind, sets the platform and an opportunity for young people to come and get mentored or meet with individuals who have been in the profession longer than them. Therefore, they’re able to draw new insights regarding the profession, and even regarding life because mentorship is not just about showing one where to go

The Premiere Kenya Law Career fair event was great, I think it was long overdue. I know there are alot of people in the legal profession mentoring. However, getting people together, and the quality of people we’ve had speaking to them today was incredible. Throwing it back, it had happened to me back when I was in college. But I’m glad that we’ve started, and I hope we can maintain the tempo, maintain what we’ve started.
