Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Legal Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing legal matters related to land acquisition, leasing, property transactions, compliance, and regulatory processes.

The Legal Officer will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal support to the property entity by ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, handling legal matters related to real estate transactions, tenancy agreements, property acquisitions, leases, litigation, and contract management. The ideal candidate must demonstrate solid legal practice experience with a strong bias in property and real estate law.

Qualifications & Experience:

1. Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized institution.

2. Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate.

3. A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience (including pupillage).

4. Mandatory experience and demonstrated knowledge in property and real estate law.

5. Strong drafting, negotiation, and legal analytical skills.

6. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

7. High level of integrity and professional ethics.

Responsibilities

1. Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents, including lease agreements, sale
agreements, and property acquisition contracts.

2.Provide legal opinions and advice on property and land matters including zoning, titles, compliance, and due diligence.

3. Coordinate and liaise with external lawyers on ongoing litigations, arbitrations, and
conveyancing matters.

4. Ensure legal compliance with regulatory requirements by the company in relation to
property development, leasing, and sales.

5. Represent the company in legal forums as needed and manage legal risks across operations.

6. Monitor and advise on any legal developments or changes in property and land laws.

7 and review internal policies, contracts, and ensure internal legal processes are streamlined.

8. Support the HR and operations team with employment law issues when required.

9. Ensure all company property documents and licenses are up to date and properly
maintained.
