In-house Legal Counsel Vacancy

A holding company for a group of companies is looking to hire an in-house Legal Counsel.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all legal aspects of the organizations and related commercial activities are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft, develop, review and prepare various types of contracts including service level agreements, Annual maintenance and Service Contracts, Project Contracts, partnership agreements, dealership agreements, third party and/or sub-contract agreement, Employee Contracts, Service Provider Contracts, ICT agreements ensuring that they are legally sound and they comply with companies’ policies and procedures and mitigate risks.
  • Contract management and administration to ensure compliance and renewals as and when appropriate.
  • Drafting, Development, review and negotiations of Lease for new premises and facilitation with registration of the same.
  • Review legislation and advise Management on how the Company’s operations shall be affected in order to avoid any potential liabilities that could arise.
  • Provide general legal advice to the group companies on various legal issues affecting its operations.
  • Regular staff training to keep staff up to date with changes in the legislation and regulations and to raise awareness of legal risks and issues within business.
  • Research on various legal issues affecting group companies and prepare legal opinions to relevant units and stakeholders.
  • Give legal advice on compliance with the labour laws, management of disciplinary matters in compliance with the law and guidance on emerging legal matters relating to

Employer/Employee relations.

  • Review and understand group companies’s internal Policies and Procedures and ensure consistency with the organizations’ strategic goals and with the legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and submit monthly monitoring reports and other periodic or special legal reports.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of all legal matters with up to date status reports.
  • Preparation of court pleadings and attending to court matters.
  • Implement legal policies, procedures and ensure delivery of the strategy under the set timeless.
  • Draft and/or review legal documents, instruments and monitor legal obligations.
  • Respond to demand letters and deal with disputes arising from any engagement by the

Company.

  • Support the service unit in tracking the status of customer complaints and providing mitigation measures where to ensure minimum exposure to the Company.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by your Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized university;
  • Admission to the bar and a current practicing certificate.
  • At least ten years’ post admission experience in the provision of legal services in a reputable law firm or the legal department of a leading commercial organization.
  • Strong technical legal and commercial skills including experience in contracting, commercial and employment law.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work with others and manage multiple time sensitive matters in a demanding organization.
  • Ability to identify and analyse complex issues/problems in management areas, recommend and implement solutions
  • Good interpersonal relations and communications.
  • Can evaluate and weigh all legal aspects and/or situations, and provide sound solutions to protect the business’s legal rights.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders.
