Acorn Management Services Limited is Hiring a Senior Legal Manager- Conveyancing and Contracts

Acorn Management Services Limited is a vertically integrated developer, operator, and asset manager of rental housing with a mission to transform and improve the living conditions of the people of Africa by creating sustainable communities coupled with innovative capital investment projects.

They are seeking to recruit a highly talented and dynamic professional to fill the following position based in Nairobi:

SENIOR LEGAL MANAGER – CONVEYANCING AND CONTRACTS

Reporting to the Chief Finance and External Affairs Officer, the Senior Legal Manager – Conveyancing and Contracts will be responsible for offering proactive legal counsel aligned with legislative mandates and industry standards while also directly contributing to the company’s legal functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with departmental leaders and key stakeholders across the business in establishing and mitigating potential legal risks.
  • Advising the management of any relevant legal developments and compliance requirements affecting the group and recommending changes.
  • Handling the completion of conveyancing transactions including the settlement and registration of title deeds in the company’s or its subsidiaries while ensuring the company has met all legal requirements and is protected throughout the transactions.
  • Leading in the processing of conveyancing and ensuring adequate and timely legal due diligence is carried out before the acquisition of land.
  • Managing and coordinating external counsel in the handling of conveyancing transactions.
  • Monitoring and managing all legal disputes to ensure timely resolution.
  • Developing and implementing a proactive and thorough litigation strategy adopting a clear and detailed plan.
  • Providing legal guidance on employment-related matters such as hiring, termination, discrimination, performance, disciplinary, and harassment.
  • Ensuring regulatory, statutory, and contractual compliance by group entities, projects, and properties, while mitigating risks.
  • Maintaining safe custody of all official records and documents regarding payments and contractual terms and agreements and also ensuring their validity.

 

Academic Qualifications, Experience, and Required Skills

  • Degree in Law from a reputable institution. A Master’s degree in Commercial or Corporate Law will be an added advantage.
  • Relevant professional registration.
  • Have 5-7 years post-admission experience with practical exposure in most of the areas highlighted in the key outputs and accountabilities.
  • Demonstrable ability to act with integrity and maintain the highest ethical standards.
  • Proven track record of establishing and maintaining strong relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable experience in safeguarding corporate integrity
  • Demonstrable ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with confidence and enthusiasm.
  • Demonstrable ability to handle multiple and conflicting priorities
