The Dispute Resolution Hub is looking to expand its panel of mediation mentors next month and is welcoming all who are qualified and interested in becoming CERTIFIED MEDIATION MENTORS to register for the training scheduled for 19th – 22nd February 2025.
We hold our mentors to a high standard of excellence and performance therefore all applicants MUST meet the academic and professional requirements.DR Hub reserves the right to accept/deny applications depending on the available slots – we have 40 slots available.
Academic requirement
- Successfully completed an initial 40-50 hour professional mediation course
- Completed a diploma, degree course or an equivalent certification in higher/tertiary education
Professional requirement
- Qualified as a mediator for a minimum period of 3 years
- Certified to practise either as a qualified mediator OR a court-annexed mediator
- Handled a minimum of 10 mediation cases in the past 2 years
- Possess good conduct with no record of gross misconduct
Cost of Training – Ksh 5,000. No payment is required at registration. All applicants will be notified if their application is accepted and will be directed to make payment by 16th February 2025.
Course requirements and expectations
This 15 hour virtual course aims at developing skills of experienced mediators into ready-mentors who can take up mentees within the DR Hub mentorship program and apply the knowledge learnt to infuse professional standards into their OWN private mentorship programs. The course is set to include peer-review, evaluation and self-assessment.
For this reason, it is expected that:
1. Applicants who are non-DR Hub members have a chance to fill out the screening form and join the DR Hub community by 12th February 2025. Membership to DR Hub is free. Proceed to fill out the form: https://forms.gle/oUk7N6U1XpseYGiR6
2. The trainees MUST attend a minimum 4 out of 5 (80%) classes.
3. The trainees MUST prepare for classes by reviewing course/pre-reading material, have good internet connectivity and use a device with video capacity.
4. The trainees MUST contribute actively in the classes.
5. The trainees MUST create their own mentor profile as part of the course.
Timelines and Schedules
- Registration deadline: 12th February 2025 @ midnight
- Communication of acceptance and payment instructions via email: 14th February 2025
- Payment confirmation: 17th February 2025
- Sharing course reading material: 18th February 2025
- Setting up the main comms on Whatsapp: 18th February 2025
- Training sessions on 19th- 21st [6pm -8.30pm] and on 22nd [8am -9.30am]
- Award of digital certificates: 28th February 2025
- Transition to the DR Hub Mentors group: 28th February 2025
- Personal reading and class prep [4 hours] & Post training support [2 hours]
