In my youth, I wish I had embraced a hobby or sport. The unpredictability of practice and the pressures of life often lead us to prioritize work and earning a living. Interestingly, it seems litigation chose me, rather than the other way around. As a pupil, I worked under a partner who was primarily focused on litigation, which led me to where l am today. I found it fascinating to attend court hearings and observe the skilled counsel of the past practising their craft. I remember losing a case due to a technicality for a paraplegic client who suffered from medical negligence. That loss affected me deeply; it was the first and last case I lost on such grounds. To my younger self, I would advise: don’t be too hard on yourself. Life eventually finds balance as long as you uphold excellence and passion as lifelong ideals- Omwanza Ombati
