NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 12 – Four Kenyan law firms have been shortlisted for the 2022 African Legal Awards.
The law firms include ALN Kenya | Anjarwalla & Khanna, Bowmans, TripleOkLaw, and IKM Advocates (DLA Piper Africa).
Bowmans took the lead with over 17 nominations out of 40 categories while ALN Kenya | Anjarwalla & Khanna took the second spot with 11 nominations. IKM Advocates came in third with six nominations while TripleOkLaw had four nominations.
Safaricom has also been nominated in the legal department segment, shortlisted for Legal department of the year and legal rising star of the year.
Winners in the 40 categories opened for 2022 will be announced on September 2, 2022 at an in-person event at the Houghton Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Returning to an in-person event for their ninth year, the African Legal Awards recognise exceptional achievement from Africa’s legal elite.
Hosted by Law.com International in partnership with Africa Legal, the Corporate Counsel Association of South Africa and the global charity Save the Children, these awards continue to showcase incredible talent, recognising more of a pan-African audience each year.
In 2021 over 400 submissions were received, and over the last three years the awards have seen representation from 20 countries across Africa.

A few of the big winners in 2021 were AB & David Africa (African Law Firm of the Year – Large Practice), Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah (African Law Firm of the Year – Small Practice), Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa (African Network/Alliance of the Year) and Herbert Smith Freehills (Alternative Service Provider of the Year).
The event will also host the annual unveiling of the largest law firms, by headcount, from the Africa Top 50 rankings, researched in partnership between Africa Legal and Law.com International.
