The National Museums of Kenya is Hiring a Legal Officer JOB GRADE NMK 6

(a)Job Specification

An officer at this level may be deployed in either Corporation Secretary and Legal Services Directorate or the Intellectual Property Management Department functional areas.

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: –

I. Legal

i. Management of litigation matters;
ii. Drawing draft contracts, agreements and other legal documents;
iii. Undertaking legal research;
iv. Identifying legal and compliance risks;
v. Providing day to day legal and regulatory support to the functional
areas covering general compliance queries and reviews;
vi. Representing the organisation in litigation matters;
vii. Compiling of monthly/quarterly reports on legal matters; and
viii. Assisting in board secretarial work.

II. Intellectual Property Management Function

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail assisting in:
i. Implementing IP policies that promote and protect intellectual property rights;
ii. Protecting valuable intellectual property assets such as inventions,
trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets;
iii. Conducting awareness campaigns and educational programs to enhance
understanding of IP rights and their importance;
iv. Organizing training, competitions and awards relating to industrial property
matters; and
v. Enforcing IP rights and handling IP-related disputes.

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must:-
i. Have a Bachelor of Law degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
ii. Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law;
iii. Be admitted as an Advocate of the High Court;
iv. At least four (4) years work experience
v. Have valid practicing license;
vi. Be proficient in computer applications; and
vii. Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.

ii. Strong communication and reporting skills;
iii. Interpersonal skills; and
iv. Team player.
