In celebration of World Intellectual Property Day 2025, the International Trademark Association (INTA) is pleased to invite you to an insightful roundtable on “IP and the Music Industry: A Legal and Business Overview” taking place on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 8:30 am – 1:30 pm East African Time (EAT) at GoDown Arts Centre – Kilimani.
World IP Day 2025 highlights how creativity and innovation, backed by IP rights, help support a thriving music scene that benefits everyone, everywhere. This year’s World IP Day invites us to explore how IP rights and innovation policies empower creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs to bring fresh ideas to the music industry, safeguarding the work of songwriters, composers, performers, and all those who shape the music that moves us.
In line with this theme, we invite you to join us for this event centered around empowering Kenya’s upcoming musicians and creatives with the legal and business knowledge that they need to thrive in the industry. Our program will feature a panel discussion on the status of the music business in Kenya; a presentation by the key players in the industry on their roles and responsibilities; and a legal clinic offering free legal advice on IP rights, contracts, royalties, and other key issues affecting creators.
